'What's one more cat?': Skittish stray feline wanders onto a student film set, they almost leave her there, until one partner decides to cast her as the newest member of his family

What student film isn't complete without a stray cat becoming the star of the movie?

Cats are the stars of whatever room they walk into. It's natural for them. Their floofiness and adorable feline faces demand our attention, and it's practically an instinct buried not-so-deep within us to stop whatever we're doing, pspspsps them, and try to become their furvorite hooman. It doesn't always work, but when it does, it makes us the happiest purrson in the whole world. 

So, imagine that you've rented a rural Airbnb for your student film, and when you arrive, you find out you have a fuzzy costar waiting for their meowment in the limelight. Except that, because it's a low-budget film, you packed all the equipment into one car and have no room for his ride back home to the city. That was the dilemma of our couple from Reddit's r/cats subreddit. They found out from the owners of the Airbnb that the feline is a stray that they take care of, when they can. Is that any way to treat your main character?

With their sentimental souls, they knew they couldn't leave the kitty there. A 40-minute drive from the nearest city, this cat would be all alone as soon as they left. After much deliberation, the filmmaker decided to cast this cat as the newest member of his family. Did they have all the answers? No. But did they know that it was worth it to take him and figure it out on the way? Yes.

Cats don't always show up at the purrfect time. They often don't. But when they do, it means you've been chosen, and taking that cat in can literally mean the difference between life and the rainbow bridge for this cat. I know that I would have done the same.

  • I can't see a cat (or any animal for that matter) in need and not help it. Even if that just means running to the store and buying it some food, or taking it to the vet to check for a microchip. Did I have time scheduled for it in my day? Absolutely not. But, life can wait a few hours when it comes to doing a good deed.

    Dependent_North_762 If you can afford to, grab a carrier from the pet store and set her on your lap for the car ride. She won't need a litter box for three hours. Once you're home, place her in your bathroom with a cardboard box full of litter or newspaper for now.

    Peplum Are the airbnb owners still willing to take care of her? If she's comfy, fed, and safe until they find a good home for her it might be best to let them keep on. I wouldn't uproot her unless you can guarantee her the smoothest possible transition into a forever home. I totally get you though.

Good on you for checking the food supply, but I don't know that putting kitty through the stress of that drive then not being able to provide a home is in its best interest. Maybe just post info about the cat to your socials and connect them with the Airbnb hosts.
